Top ratchet micro buckle closure combined with Velcro instep strap and short laces make this so easy to put on, even the youngest renegade can at least try to put them on themselves. . I bought these for my 4 1/2 year old son. He's worn them twice and says that he feels comfortable in them. Since they lace, velcro and snap closed it is easy to get a tight fit. The skates fit him right out of the box, so I have not had to use the size adjust feature but it appears to be easy to do.
